Josh McDaniels Will Work With Patriots During Playoffs

Josh McDaniels is officially coming back to New England. ESPN reports that the agreement between the two sides is done and he will become a Patriots assistant during the playoff run become taking the offensive coordinator duties next season.

The Patriots lost current offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to the Penn State head coaching job but he will remain in his role with the Patriots during the playoffs.

McDaniels was with the Patriots at offensive coordinator before taking the Denver Broncos head coaching job before the 2009 season. He was fired two years later and spent the 2011 season with the St. Louis Rams. He'll be working with Tom Brady again and, like a lot of other guys working with Brady, his success should quickly rise.

The fact McDaniels is going to be working with the team during the playoffs is a little unique (but not illegal, according to the NFL). He’ll be labeled an offensive assistant in that time.
