On Monday, the New York Jets agreed to a two-year deal with cornerback Aaron Berry, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Berry, 24, most recently played with the Detroit Lions before being released over the summer. The youngster has been in some recent trouble with the law, resulting in two arrests this past offseason. Berry was brought in on charges of suspected DUI in June and three counts of simple assault in July.

Both of these offenses forced Roger Goodell and the NFL to act, suspending Berry for the first three games of the 2012 campaign.

During his time in the league, Berry hasn’t done much to distinguish himself. The former Pittsburgh Panther standout was thought to be a key piece of the Lions’ secondary in the future, but it never happened. In 2011, Berry made just 31 tackles in only 11 games.

However, the Jets need depth with Darrelle Revis being done for the year with a torn ACL, and Berry fits the bill.
