Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson has been placed on the injured reserve after suffering a Lisfranc foot injury. Benson left Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts with the injury in the second quarter.
Cedric Benson injury: Packers RB placed on IR, designated for return
The Packers designated Benson for return and are hopeful he’ll be back in eight weeks.

Under the new roster rules this season, Benson has been designated for return from the injured reserve, something each team can do with a player once per season. Previously, a player was done for the year if placed on the injured reserve.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy is hopeful Benson can return in time to play in the team’s final regular season games, according to Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press-Gazette:
MM: Benson can practice after 6 weeks and return in 8 weeks. Expect he could play in final 4 games of season.
