Darrelle Revis injury: Jets CB scheduled for Oct. 18 surgery

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis will have surgery to repair his torn ACL on Thursday, Oct. 18, according to Jane McManus. The Jets will then place him in IR to create an extra roster spot.

New York initially waited to place him on IR, on the off-chance that Revis could return during the playoffs (or the Super Bowl). But now the defensive back's season is officially over. The injury occurred during a Week 3 victory over the Miami Dolphins. The next day, it was announced that Revis would likely miss the remainder of the season.

Revis has been a crucial part of the Jets secondary since joining the team in 2007. There is probably no player more important to the New York defense. His ability to match up one-on-one against top wide receivers has been instrumental to the Jets’ defensive success. He has 19 career interceptions and has been to the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons.
