The Jets worst fears are realized: Darrelle Revis has torn his ACL, which ended his season. Antonio Allen was activated from the practice squad.

    Revis’ season officially over, placed on IR

    The defensive back’s season officially ended once he was scheduled to have surgery to repair his torn ACL. The surgery will take place on Thursday, Oct. 18. The Jets held out hope of a late playoffs return for Revis, but the scheduled surgery and IR placement officially ends that dream.

    Revis recorded 11 tackles and one interception this season before he was hurt.

    Revis has been a crucial part of the Jets secondary since joining the team in 2007. There is probably no player more important to the New York defense. His ability to match up one-on-one against top wide receivers has been instrumental to the Jets’ defensive success. He has 19 career interceptions and has been to the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons.
