NFL inactives, Week 6: Lions vs. Eagles

Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas active for the first time this season.

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas will be active for the first time this season and in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Eagles today. Delmas had arthroscopic surgery on his knee on Aug. 7.

Lions secondary coach Tim Walton told the Detroit Free Press that, although Delmas will start, they will ease him back into the lineup, so he might not be on the field every time the defense is against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday.

The inactive list for the Lions includes running back Kevin Smith, the team's starter when the season opened. Smith's role in the offense has diminished since Mikel Leshoure returned from injury and Joique Bell emerged as the primary backup. Smith had 115 yards on 29 carries through the first two games of the season, but hasn't had a carry since.

Also inactive for the Lions today are safety Ricardo Silva, linebacker Tahir Whitehead, offensive linemen Jason Fox and Corey Hilliard, defensive tackle Corey Williams and quarterback Kellen Moore.

Inactive for the Eagles are quarterback Trent Edwards, wide receiver Damaris Johnson, running back Dion Lewis, linebacker Jamar Chaney, offensive lineman Steve Vallos and Nate Menkin and defensive lineman Vinny Curry.
