Philadelphia Eagles punt returner Damaris Johnson is inactive today, opening the door for wide receiver DeSean Jackson to get back out there on special teams, a role he has excelled at throughout his football career. Jackson has been protected from the extra duty this season but with Philly struggling in that area, they might have to take the step to putting him back out there.

Johnson was not half the returner that Jackson is, returning eight punts this year for 48 yards and a long of 13. Jackson has a career average of 10.6 on punt returns with four touchdowns, including a game-winning return against the Giants in 2010. While playing for Cal in college, Jackson returned four touchdowns during his sophomore season alone.
Fantasy Take: If Jackson was, for some reason, on the bubble for a start on your fantasy team this could push him over the top. It might not mean a lot, returning punts for touchdowns is still rare, but it’s an extra opportunity for one of the best open-field players in the NFL.
The Lions are a mess on special teams, already giving up two punt returns for touchdowns in five games. Jackson will make it interesting, if nothing else.
