Ray Lewis injury: Ravens linebacker to receive MRI on triceps

Future Hall-of-Famer Ray Lewis had to leave the Ravens’ game against the Cowboys early due to a right triceps injury, and will reportedly undergo an MRI.

Scary news for Baltimore Ravens fans: inside linebacker Ray Lewis left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter against the Dallas Cowboys with a right triceps injury, and, according to the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson, he will receive an MRI on the muscle to determine the severity of the injury.

Wilson said Lewis was getting treatment and unavailable for comment after the game, so any word on the seriousness of the injury would simply be speculation at this point. What isn't speculation is how important Lewis is to the Ravens' defense and team. Missing him for even a game — especially considering their next opponent is the Houston Texans in Week 7 — would be a huge impediment to the defense.

Lewis has been his typical flying-around-the-field self so far this year for the Ravens, despite being 37 years old. He accumulated 14 tackles against the Cowboys before leaving with the injury and 43 on the season, along with a sack.
