Ray Lewis injury: Ravens LB expected out another week

Ray Lewis will have to wait until Week 16 to return to the football field, as the Baltimore Ravens will not activate their star linebacker this weekend.

Baltimore Ravens' linebacker and franchise icon Ray Lewis will not be activated off the injured reserve list on Saturday, and will miss Baltimore's Week 15 contest against the Denver Broncos.

Lewis hasn't played in a game since Week 6, when the Ravens defeated the Dallas Cowboys, 31-29. Lewis tore his right triceps against the Cowboys, and was placed on injured reserve -- but was given the designated to return tag.

Since Lewis was given the designated to return tag, he is eligible to return this season, but must spend eight weeks sidelined. Week 15 is Lewis’ first eligible week to return, but the Ravens will hold their star linebacker out another week.

Lewis has only appeared in six games this season, but has recorded 57 tackles and a sack. Lewis has also forced and recovered a fumble.

John Harbaugh and the Ravens staff will hope to have Lewis back for Week 16, when the Ravens play host to the New York Giants.
