Lardarius Webb injury: Ravens confirm CB is out for year

The Baltimore Ravens feared they had lost cornerback Lardarius Webb to a torn ACL following their Week 6 win over Dallas, and those fears were well-founded. After some evaluation by team doctors, head coach John Harbaugh has confirmed that Webb is lost for the year with the ACL tear, according to Aaron Wilson of Ravens Insider.

Webb tore his ACL while covering a Cowboys receiver on Sunday. He attempted to change directions and appeared to tweak the knee, instantly falling to the ground. He was helped off the field and did not return.

A fourth-year player out of Nicholls State, Webb has emerged as one of the premier cornerbacks in the NFL. He has recorded eight interceptions since the start of the 2010 season, which ranks among the best in the league. Through six weeks this season, Webb had picked off one pass, forced and recovered a fumble, and made 25 tackles for Baltimore.

The news of Webb being lost for the season came just hours after the team learned veteran linebacker Ray Lewis was also done for the year with a torn triceps muscle.
