NFL lines and odds Week 7: Jets vs. Patriots

With the AFC East lead on the line, the New England Patriots will take on the New York Jets in Week 7. The Patriots are favored to be in the lead when it's all said and done, and by a significant margin. According to SB Nation's NFL odds page, the Patriots opened as 13-point favorites to win, though the line has moved plenty, with many of the major odds-makers somewhere between 10 and 12 points in favor of New England.

The over/under for the game is right around 47 on most sites, and the over might be the smart bet, given New York’s defensive struggles this season. Both teams feature defensive coaches, but both units remain in the bottom half of the NFL in yards and points allowed.

OddsShark.com confirms the notion that the over might be a good bet, given that these two teams have combined for the over in their last five meetings. The total has gone over in 17 of New York’s last 22 road games and 16 of New England’s last 23 home games, on top of that.
