Raiders squeak by Jaguars in overtime

With 13 points after the halfway point of the fourth quarter, this new strategy got the Raiders right back into the game. But as Damien points out, the defense deserves some credit for the comeback as well:

Blaine Gabbert left the game with a shoulder injury in the first half against the Raiders. He did not return to action after exiting, leaving Chad Henne to take over under center.

Henne completed just nine of 20 passes for 71 yards after he came in. Gabbert had thrown for 110 yards and a touchdown on just eight completions in his limited playing time.

Carson Palmer struggled with his accuracy in Week 7 as he completed 26 of 46 passes against the Jaguars. Palmer finished with 298 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Raiders’ overtime win.

In six games this season, Palmer has only thrown multiple touchdowns once.

Entering Week 7, Gabbert has thrown for 796 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions and is at 54.6 percent on his attempts, and the Jaguars are 1-4. Still, Gabbert is the future for the Jags, and this year is crucial for his development. They hope he gets back on the field soon.

Under duress it’s time for Carson to prove he’s still go it. Awareness, poise, self-belief... Palmer showed none of these qualities when he decided to flip the ball 15 yards down the field to glory.

The ball gets batted right into the arms of a fellow defended. Oh Raiders, you’re out-Raider-ing yourself.
