Jaguars vs. Raiders, Week 7: No Gabbert, no Jones-Drew, no victory

It looked as if the Jacksonville Jaguars would be able to escape with a road victory against the Oakland Raiders, but the team was unable to hold on late in the fourth quarter, losing by the score of 26-23.

That wasn't the only bad news of the day for Jaguars fans, as star running back Maurice Jones-Drew missed nearly the entire game due to an ankle injury. Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert played well, completing 8 of 12 passes for 110 yards and 1 touchdown, but his day was cut short after suffering a shoulder injury towards the end of the first half.

In came backup quarterback Chad Henne, whose performance leaves Adam Stites of SB Nation's Jaguars blog, Big Cat Country, quite frankly disgusted by the lack of competence.

Control might be a nice way to put Henne’s grasp on the quarterback spot. Completing just nine-of-20 passes for 73 yards, Henne walked in to multiple sacks and gave the Raiders the opportunity to come back. And come back they did, very slowly and poorly. Had the Jaguars showed any semblance of competency on offense, they could have held off the terrible come back by the Raiders, but they didn’t and they couldn’t.

Now falling to 1-5 on the season, jt doesn't get any easier for the Jaguars, as the team will head out to Lambeau Field for a showdown against the Green Bay Packers.
