Redskins vs. Giants, Week 7: Washington fans lament turnovers in loss

Right when it looked like Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins were going to pull out an upset victory on the road against the New York Giants, Eli Manning and Victor Cruz showed up to ruin the day. Manning hit Cruz for a 77-yard score with 1:13 left to send the Redskins home heartbroken.

Blogger UkRedskin of SB Nation’s Redskins blog Hogs Haven was proud of Griffin’s performance, but was disappointed in how the Redskins failed to protect the football all day long:

But at the end of the day, turnovers lost the game in my opinion. You just cant go on the road, especially to a team like the Giants, and turn the ball over on five occasions. Securing the football will be a priority in practice this week.

Washington actually only turned the ball over four times on the day, but based on the amount of balls put on the ground, it sure seemed like way more. The Redskins fumbled five times, losing three of them, including one by Santana Moss in the final minute that sealed the game for New York.

Making this even more disappointing is the fact that the Redskins had only turned the ball over five times all season heading into Sunday’s game.

Washington has a tough game next weekend when they travel to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
