Mike Holmgren may coach again

Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren may coach again in the NFL. The former Packers and Seahawks head coach didn’t rule out a return on Tuesday.

David Richard-US PRESSWIRE

Mike Holmgren, current team president of the Cleveland Browns, didn't rule out a return to coaching on Tuesday when he met with the media to discuss the team and his future under new owner Jimmy Haslam. According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Holmgren said he didn't know if he had a coaching future when asked if he had "one more coaching stint in him."

Holmgren went on to say that he misses coaching, and that he briefly considered coaching the Browns after the team fired Eric Mangini. Ultimately, he felt that he still wasn’t ready to make the concessions to his family and other obligations to take on the coaching gig, and that he felt like he would be shortchanging the Browns had he elected to make himself the coach.

It's certainly been a long career for Holmgren, who doesn't have much left to prove in any capacity within the NFL. He won a Super Bowl title in 1996 with the Green Bay Packers. Still, for the time being, Holmgren is with the Browns, even if his future with the team is unclear. His successor has already been named, but he's sticking around for now.
