NFL picks Week 8: Can the Cowboys do it again?

The Pats have averaged just 103.29 yards per game on the ground while the Bears have allowed 108.43 yards per contest. Conversely, the Bears have rushed for 95.29 yards per game, and will face a New England front seven that has given up 126.29 yards per game on the ground.

As far as the experts go, ESPN likes the Patriots to prevail by a 12-1 margin. CBS Sports similarly sees New England coming out on top, 8-0.

Miami comes in with a middle-of-the-road defense ranked No. 15 (23 points per game allowed) to go against the Jags’ bottom-ranked offense, which has posted just 15 points per contest.

SB Nation also likes the Dolphins, this time by a 5-2 margin. Based on the trend, it’s easy to see that Jacksonville has an uphill battle and will have to pull off an upset on its home turf to come out on top.

Baltimore is just 1-4 straight up and against the spread in its last five contests against AFC North opponents. The Bengals are struggling in October with an 0-2-1 record so far. They’ll look to get back on track in front of the home crowd with a win that would put them within striking distance of their opponent.

The Cowboys beat the Giants in New York in the NFL’s season opener, but despite that victory, most experts still seem to like the Giants to win on the road.

The picks at CBS Sports weren’t very different from those at ESPN, as six of the eight selections there favored New York. All three picks at Yahoo! like the Giants, and the Yahoo! users picked New York to come out on top, as well.

Many experts around the country have released their picks for Week 8. At ESPN, all 12 of their writers and analysts believe the 49ers will win. Their computer simulation of the game also has San Francisco winning.

Mike Silver, Jason Cole and Les Carpenter, all from Yahoo! Sports, have the Niners winning as well on Monday night. Yahoo! users also like San Francisco to win. As for the pundits at CBS Sports, they tend to lean in Arizona’s favor. Five of them like the Cardinals to come out victorious, while three others like the 49ers.

Over at ESPN, all of their experts believe that Panthers will lose their sixth game of the season.

At Yahoo!, its another clean sweep, with all three experts and the site’s users going with Chicago.

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports’ weekly panel selected the Lions to defend their home field after a disheartening loss, even though his two colleagues, Mike Silver and Les Carpenter, opted to go with Seattle and Carroll’s rock-solid defense.

Six of CBSSports.com’s experts also chose the Seahawks this week, as only Pete Prisco and Dave Richard were brave enough to put faith in Lions head coach Jim Schwartz’ sinking team.

CBS Sports experts are similarly divided, with just four of nine experts calling for the Colts to win on Sunday. Against the spread (where the Titans favored by 3.5), only three of the eight making the picks expect Tennessee to cover.

The Titans take on the Colts at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, with coverage on CBS.

In addition, all eight members of CBSSports.com’s expert panel also selected the Chargers to pull out the win, as only two men, Clark Judge and Will Brinson, are under the belief that the game will be decided by its 3.5-point spread.

At ESPN, five of nine experts who had made picks at the time of this post (Eric Allen, Merril Hoge, and Ron Jaworski had not made picks) selected the Jets, while four sided with the Dolphins. At CBS, it was an even split with four experts picking the Jets and the other four picking Miami to even the season series. Things were a little more one-sided at Yahoo!, where all three experts selected the Dolphins to win.

Overall that makes 11 out of 20 experts who picked Miami, or 55%, and 9-of-20, 45%, that went with the Jets.
