Bears vs. Patriots 2014 picks and predictions: New England welcomes Chicago to Foxborough

The Bears hope to turn things around after a disheartening home loss in Week 7.

The Chicago Bears will have their hands full when they travel to Gillette Stadium to take on the New England Patriots Sunday. The Bears arrive as 7-point underdogs after a disappointing 27-14 loss to the Miami Dolphins at home in Week 7.

The task of turning things around won't be easy as New England is 3-0 overall and 2-1 against the spread in its last three contests. According to OddsShark, the over/under is 50.5 in this potential high-scoring affair. Tom Brady and Jay Cutler grab plenty of headlines, but this game could be won or lost on the ground.

The Pats have averaged just 103.29 yards per game on the ground while the Bears have allowed 108.43 yards per contest. Conversely, the Bears have rushed for 95.29 yards per game, and will face a New England front seven that has given up 126.29 yards per game on the ground.

Matt Forte will be the player to watch as he's been an everyman for the Bears. He'll need to have a sound game with consistent involvement in the offense for the Bears to pull off the road upset.

As far as the experts go, ESPN likes the Patriots to prevail by a 12-1 margin. CBS Sports similarly sees New England coming out on top, 8-0.

SB Nation’s team is the only group that has any love for the Bears, but even our own experts see the Pats dominating with a 6-1 gap. Check out the rest of SB Nation’s Week 8 picks to gather all the information you’ll need.
