The Bears needed a late rally to beat the Carolina Panthers this week.

  • Is Josh Morgan a fantasy option?

    Patrick McDermott

Morgan had just 23 catches for 263 yards coming in and this was probably his most eye-catching game to this point. He still hasn’t scored a TD yet.

Jay Cutler, Robbie Gould bounce back in Bears win

    John Gress

Steven Schweickert of Bears blog Windy City Gridiron was happy to see Cutler, and the normally reliable Gould, bounce back and lead the Bears to victory:

Gould had missed a 33-yard field goal earlier in the fourth quarter, but hit the game-winner as time expired to propel the Bears to a 6-1 record. Cutler’s final stats weren’t pretty, as he threw for just 186 yards with one touchdown and one interception, but he did lead Chicago on key drives in the fourth quarter to bring the Bears back.

Brandon Marshall has solid fantasy day

    John Gress

The Bears went on to win 23-22 on a last-second field goal.

Fantasy Impact: Through seven games, Marshall now has 50 catches for 675 yards and four TDs. He’s on pace for 114 receptions and 1,542 yards. He’s Cutler’s favorite and only reliable target.

Matt Forte scores for fantasy owners

    David Banks

The Bears went on to win 23-22.

Fantasy Impact: Not much to add here. Forte had a nice day, he should be starting in all fantasy leagues, and fantasy owners should be very happy with his production.

Jay Cutler has middling fantasy day

    John Gress

He was better in the second half, as he rallied the troops for a 23-22 comeback win.

Fantasy Impact: Another frustrating day for fantasy owners. Cutler was sacked six times and looked utterly lost at times, and needed a big performance from the Bears D (including a pick six) to come out ahead.

Bears avoid upset to Panthers with comeback

    John Gress

Newton also fumbled the ball twice, but each time, Carolina recovered. He finished with a 20-of-39 day, 314 yards and two interceptions.

But Cutler found himself in the final two drives. He finished the game having completed 19-of-28 passes for 186 yards, and he was the catalyst in setting up the game-winning field goal.

    Steve Smith over 100 yards

    Jeremy Brevard-US PRESSWIRE

Big days for Steve Smith are par for the course, but during the 2012 season those once routine 100-yard days have been few and far between.

The Panthers’ offense has amassed more than 360 total yards of offense, while the Bears have yet to crack 100 yards on the day.

    Newton fumbles, Panthers still score

    US PRESSWIRE

Instead of celebrating with his teammates, thanking Murphy for bailing him out, or showing jubilation that his team had taken the lead, Newton walked off the field and sat by himself on the bench. It took a celebrating Murphy to approach Newton, patting him on the helmet, and even then Cam looked none too pleased with what transpired. Another example of his competitiveness getting the better of him.

    Fantasy projections for Panthers-Bears

    US PRESSWIRE

Perhaps the Panthers’ change of pace at running back will benefit star quarterback Cam Newton, who won’t have to worry as much about leading the team in rushing. Considering the way the Bears have been playing, a few sacks and

interceptions are probably in order for Newton. At the same time, you just know he’ll be airing it out when the Panthers fall behind so he could very well end up putting up a nice fantasy total.
