After starting the season 1-3, the Detroit Lions have won three of their last four games to climb back to .500 and into the NFC playoff picture. Detroit can pull out of the NFC North cellar on Sunday when it travels to Minnesota to face the Vikings.

While the Lions are surging, the Vikings are fading. Minnesota opened the season with four wins in its first five games, but are just 1-3 over its last four games. The Vikings have lost back-to-back games. Adrian Peterson has continued to run well for Minnesota -- including 182 yards last week against Seattle -- but quarterback Christian Ponder has struggled. Ponder threw for 63 yards against Seattle, just two weeks after he threw for 58 yards against Arizona. In his last three games, Ponder has two touchdown passes compared to four interceptions.

Detroit opened the season with seven games decided by eight points or less, but the Lions won an easy one last week knocking off the Jaguars 31-14. Matthew Stafford didn't throw a touchdown pass last week, but did complete at least 60 percent of his passes for the third straight game. Calvin Johnson is dealing with a knee injury, but still caught seven passes for 129 yards against Jacksonville.
