Rams, 49ers fight to first tie in the NFL since 2008

Sunday’s outing was Bradford’s third with multiple touchdown passes. It was also his third game without an interception this season.

Fantasy Impact: Bradford’s big day was even more impressive considering it came against a vaunted Niners defense. He has otherwise been a quiet fantasy option this season, so he probably didn’t help many fantasy teams except those in deeper two-quarterback leagues.

Since the NFL folded the AFL into one league in 1970, there have been only 46 tie games during the regular season. This week’s tie was only the third since 2002 and just the fourth time in more than 20 years.

NFL owners changed regular season overtime rules in March 2012 to mirror the rules used for extra playing time in the post season. Under that rule, each team gets a possession, unless the team that wins the coin toss scores a touchdown on the resulting drive.

It doesn’t matter, because Ram Dance will stick. It will live on in history, being performed in St. Louis, at Colorado State University and Fordham University, because RAM DANCE.

What’s not hard is being the St. Louis Rams’ punter! Johnny Hekker got to transcend his position, one so often maligned as being the unathletic outsider of the football team, head coach Jeff Fisher loves to give his QB opportunities to separate himself from the chaff. Converting two fake punts, for two completed passes and forty yards-- a QB rating of 118.8 was his reward; something the Jets can only dream of.

There’s been a lot of chatter about Jackson’s future with the Rams and his NFL career in general. He’s certainly lost a step this year, getting only 3.4 YPC, and didn’t score a TD until Week 7.

For now, though, fantasy owners who stuck with him should be happy with his production so far today.

St. Louis started off the season better than expected, but quickly fell to the bottom of the division. They’ve had a bye week to dissect Jim Harbaugh and his exotic offense formations, but the very same Harbaugh has also had a week off to devise some new ones.

San Francisco boasts the No. 2 defense in the NFL. They’ve allowed the second-lowest yards in the NFL (2,171), the fewest points in the NFL (103) and the fewest points per game (12.9). One area where they’ve regressed is the takeaway department, but they’re also seeing the field a lot less, meaning they’re making the stops when they need to.
