Eagles unlikely to fire Andy Reid following Week 10 loss, according to report

The Philadelphia Eagles most likely won’t fire Andy Reid after the team’s fifth loss in as many games, the longest streak in the coach’s 14-year tenure. Reid will have a chance to turn around the season that owner Jeff Lurie said would be his last if they did not improve on an 8-8 finish last year.

Andy Reid's job is likely safe for at least another week, as the Philadelphia Eagles are not likely to fire their head coach following the team's fifth consecutive loss, reports Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports.

The team is in its longest losing streak under Reid, who in his 14th season in charge in Philadelphia, is the league’s longest-tenured head coach. However, Cole says that a source indicates that owner Jeff Lurie will allow Reid to continue coaching at least until the team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, if not through the end of the season. The owner said the team would need to improve on last year’s 8-8 performance for Reid to retain his job, and although that’s still technically possible, time is running out as the Eagles sit at 3-6.

Reid's decision to continue to start Michael Vick instead of Nick Foles was somewhat validated after Vick was forced to leave the team's loss to the Dallas Cowboys with a concussion. After Vick tossed a touchdown early, Foles was 22-for-32 with a touchdown and a pick, averaging 6.8 yards per pass - the exact same number as Vick through the season's first nine weeks. Foles' late fumble sealed the loss for the Eagles and perhaps proved the team's problems were deeper than who took starter's snaps at quarterback.
