ElsaIf Grotz’s report is correct, it would end a tumultuous tenure for Reid in Philadelphia.
However, for all Reid’s success early, his last couple seasons with the club have been disappointments. Philadelphia finished just 8-8 during the 2011 campaign, and prior to the start of the 2012 season, owner Jeff Lurie hinted that a similar record could cost Reid his job.

Rob CarrReid’s job security has come into question as the Eagles have fallen from a promising start to the 2012 season. After beginning the year 3-1, Philadelphia has lost its last six games, including the last four by at least 13 points.
One member of the Philadelphia coaching staff has already lost his job this season, as Reid fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo during the team’s Week 7 bye.

However, Cole says that a source indicates that owner Jeff Lurie will allow Reid to continue coaching at least until the team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, if not through the end of the season. The owner said the team would need to improve on last year’s 8-8 performance for Reid to retain his job, and although that’s still technically possible, time is running out as the Eagles sit at 3-6.
