Andy Reid: Quitting would be a ‘copout’

In his 14th season with the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Andy Reid dismisses the idea of stepping down despite the Eagles’ falling to 3-7 after yet another loss Sunday.

A day after the Philadelphia Eagles fell to 3-7 on the season, Andy Reid said that stepping down from his job as head coach "would be a copout."

Reid’s job security has come into question as the Eagles have fallen from a promising start to the 2012 season. After beginning the year 3-1, Philadelphia has lost its last six games, including the last four by at least 13 points.

The Eagles were manhandled on Sunday by the Washington Redskins, losing 31-6 and raising another round of speculation about whether Reid was in danger of losing his job.

One member of the Philadelphia coaching staff has already lost his job this season, as Reid fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo during the team’s Week 7 bye.

Reid is currently in his 14th season as the Eagles’ head coach. Since he took over in 1999, Philadelphia has been to four NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl. Reid has also guided the Eagles to six NFC East division titles.

The Eagles are back on the field Nov. 26 when they host the Carolina Panthers at 8:30 p.m. ET.
