Wes Welker injury update: Patriots’ receiver participates in walkthrough

Patriots’ wideout Wes Welker (ankle) didn’t practice on Thursday, but was in full pads for walkthroughs prior to the session.

New England Patriots' wide receiver Wes Welker was in full pads for the team's walkthrough on Thursday, according to the Boston Herald.

Welker ultimately didn't practice with the team, but his participation in the walkthrough beforehand could be a sign that the Patriots plan on having him in action for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts, assuming his injured ankle receives proper treatment first. Welker, a four-time All-Pro receiver, was targeted 11 times in New England's 37-31 win over the Buffalo Bills last week, catching six passes for 74 yards. It was his most productive game since a 10-reception, 138-yard effort against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6.

The 31-year-old Texas Tech product is on track to crack the 1,000-yard barrier for the fifth time in six seasons. He currently has 810 receiving yards in 2012, but has scored just two touchdowns, putting him on pace for his lowest total in that category since 2009.
