Ray Lewis injury: Ravens LB could return this season, according to report

The Baltimore Ravens hope Ray Lewis can return before the end of the year. He can begin practicing soon.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis could actually return from a torn triceps before the season is over. In fact, he may be able to get ready to get back on the field against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in Week 15.

Lewis was injured in October against the Dallas Cowboys and hasn't played a down of football since. He was placed on injured reserve, but designated for return. Generally, a torn triceps muscle puts a player out for the remainder of the year. Of course, Lewis isn't the typical player.

Some expect Lewis to begin practicing once again with the team on Thursday, the first day he would be allowed to do so.

Linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo summed up what it will be like when Lewis returns, per Yahoo!:

"At the end of the day, you're gonna see Ray Lewis again," said Ayanbadejo. "For the greatest player in Ravens history to be able to return from this injury and come on this championship run with us? When he was said to be down and out? Man, that's critical mass. When he comes through that tunnel, that's gonna be the earthquake and the tsunami."
