Panthers hand Eagles 7th straight loss

Fantasy Impact: The Eagles’ conservative gameplan should have benefited Celek, if anything. Young quarterbacks often turn to their tight end as a safety outlet. Celek had his worst fantasy outing of the season on Monday night, however, recording a season-low two receptions for the second time this season.

Fantasy Impact: Assuming Jackson isn’t out long term (hopefully we’ll know more tomorrow), it’s hard to like Jackson’s fantasy prospects if Foles remains the Eagles’ starting quarterback. In two games with the rookie starting under center, Jackson had just three receptions for 14 yards off 10 targets.

Love you some Philadelphia Eagles? It’s okay if you don’t want to admit it because there are plenty more like you at Bleeding Green Nation.

Fantasy Impact: Foles was more than happy to dink-and-dunk the ball while the running game did most of the heavy lifting. While the rookie didn’t make any back-breaking mistakes, he did next to nothing for anyone who started him in their fantasy league this week.

That now makes three straight ‘eh’ performances for Foles. He should not be considered a fantasy starter except for owners who find themselves critically desperate in extremely deep leagues.

The second half wasn’t as successful for the Philadelphia Eagles. Bryce Brown found his way into the end zone for his second touchdown of the night, but he also fumbled twice, stifling any momentum the Eagles offense had produced.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Eagles did what Gano could not, and put the game away by fumbling on the return. The Panthers recovered and slowly ran out the clock to claim their third victory of the season in perhaps the ugliest game of football the 2012 season will see.

This guy knows how bad it is in Philly.

But for real why isn’t that guy wearing a jacket? It’s 35 degrees in Philly. Perhaps the neck beard keeps him warm.

Fantasy Impact: Don’t be surprised if Brown is the first player off waivers in fantasy leagues everywhere this week. He should have been targeted last week after it became clear that McCoy would be ruled out, but after this clinic there is no reason Brown should not be owned going forward.

Obviously, McCoy’s return would throw a major wrench in Brown’s fantasy value. If healthy, expect McCoy to regain a significant role regardless of Brown’s heroics (and bear in mind that Brown has lost two fumbles tonight). Still, with fantasy playoffs gearing up, Brown could ultimately prove incredibly valuable.

Joel Thorman of SB Nation believes Carolina will escape with a narrow victory on the road in his Week 12 NFL picks. He makes the observation that there may not be a worse Monday night match-up all season.

ESPN’s panel of experts gives the edge to Carolina, as eight of the 12 went with the Panthers. Two of Yahoo’s three prognosticators went with the Panthers.

Both teams come in to the matchup with abysmal straight-up records. The Panthers are 2-8, while the Eagles have stumbled to 3-7. Philadelphia is even worse against the spread, at just 2-8. Carolina is 4-6 ATS overall, and 3-1 ATS on the road.

The total opened at 41. The game figures to be low-scoring, as both offenses have struggled mightily. Carolina averages just 18.4 per game, while the Eagles are even worse at 16.2. Philadelphia has went under all five games at home, while the Panthers have went over twice in four road games.
