Percy Harvin injury: Vikings receiver on crutches with sprained ankle

Minnesota Vikings’ wideout was on crutches following a sprained ankle on Sunday, and he said that it’s a sprain in three places.

Minnesota Vikings' wide receiver Percy Harvin is walking on crutches, and his left ankle is sprained in three places, according to Judd Zulgad of ESPN Twin Cities on Twitter. Harvin was already pegged as day to day with the ankle injury, which occurred during a tackle in the third quarter on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

The immediate reports were that it was not a high ankle sprain, which generally takes much longer to heal, but it's not often we hear about a player spraining his ankle in multiple places, three no less. Leslie Frazier was hopeful that Harvin would be active for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, though its unclear if he was aware of the severity of the injury when he made that statement.

Harvin had a Seattle player roll on his ankle in the third quarter on Sunday, and left the game at that point. He's been quarterback Christian Ponder's top target this season, with 677 yards off of 62 receptions and three touchdowns. The next-highest receiver is Michael Jenkins, who has just 295 yards and one touchdown.
