Dez Bryant injury: Cowboys WR plans to play

Cowboys’ wide receiver Dez Bryant is planning on playing Sunday against the Steelers in spite of a broken finger suffered last week.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant plans to suit up for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a report from Albert Breer of NFL.com (via Marc Sessler's article) on Thursday. The decision isn't completely up to him though.

Bryant reportedly received a second opinion on the broken finger, sustained during last Sunday's 20-19 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, on Wednesday, and believes that the necessary impending surgery can be held off until the offseason.

The decision to play, however, is not entirely in Bryant’s hands. In the report, a source noted that Bryant will need to get through practice with a splint on the injured finger, as team trainers are looking to see if additional injury to the digit can be avoided. Also, Bryant’s effectiveness in pass-catching needs to be put to the test during the Cowboys’ Thursday practice.

For the season, Bryant has 75 catches for 1,028 yards and nine touchdowns. His touchdown mark is good for third-best among receivers in the league.
