Dez Bryant injury update: Cowboys WR set for surgery

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is set to have surgery on his left index finger on Tuesday.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is set to have surgery on his broken left index finger on Tuesday, according to NFL.com. Bryant Tweeted on Monday night about the surgery.

The injury was suffered in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals, a game that the Cowboys won, 20-19. Bryant didn't miss significant time due to the injury, as the Cowboys were locked in a playoff battle. Unfortunately for Bryant, the Cowboys couldn't overcome Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins and missed the playoffs following a Week 17 loss.

As noted in the report, Bryant actually had his best game of the season after the fracture, when he had 224 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-31 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 16.

Bryant had a strong season in 2012-13, and the fact that the injury didn’t seem to hamper him much is definitely a good sign. Provided there are no complications with the surgery, it should heal at full strength without issue.
