Cardinals show heart in 38-10 win over Detroit

USA TODAY SportsThat just wasn’t the case on Sunday. As SB Nation’s Cardinals blog, Revenge of the Birds, detailed in their game recap, the whole team came to play against Detroit. It was their most complete performance, and for a squad so many felt had waived the white flag already, it was a pleasant surprise.
As Revenge of the Birds also noted, the Cardinals are now in somewhat of a precarious situation. Yes, winning games is always nice, but the team is out of the playoff race, and wins will only lower their spot at the draft. For a team with so many holes to fill, does it make sense to keep pushing the pedal to the medal for a couple of meaningless wins?

Norm HallWells has struggled through an injury plagued season, averaging only 2.4 yards per carry entering Sunday’s game, but was able to take advantage of a game full of Lions turnovers to punch in three touchdowns. Wells ran for two touchdowns in the second quarter and broke off a 31-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Fantasy Impact: Wells is rewarding any owners who have stuck with him during this important week of the fantasy playoffs. There wasn’t a lot of reason to trust him coming into this game, but he performed better than anyone could have expected.

USA TODAY SportsTurnovers proved to be the difference on Sunday when the Lions faced the Cardinals, as Arizona scored 35 points off of takeaways on their way to a 38-10 win.
The Lions’ late effort also proved fruitless and, after turning the ball over on downs with under four minutes to play, the Cardinals took advantage of the short field once again with Beanie Wells scoring his third touchdown of the game to put Arizona ahead, 38-10.

Norm HallJohnson hasn’t suffered from a lack of targets against the Cardinals. Stafford has thrown his way 10 times, as compared to 13 targets for the rest of the team. Johnson entered the game with 1,546 yards and is gunning for the single-season receiving yardage record.
Johnson will keep getting balls thrown his way, have faith in his talent to carry him through at the end of the day.
