Andrew Luck has more wins than any rookie No. 1 pick in NFL history

The rookie with a little bit of hype got to eight wins in almost half as many games as that other top pick.

Maybe we should be comparing Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck instead of vice versa. In some respects, Manning just won't measure up. It took Manning 23 games to earn his eighth win as an NFL quarterback. It's taken Luck just 12 games to get his eighth, which is an NFL record for a No. 1 pick in his rookie year.

As ESPN reports, Luck surpasses the seven wins of Sam Bradford and the Rams in 2010. He's still got four games left, as Indianapolis sits at 8-4 and in good position to earn a playoff berth. Manning's Colts went 3-13 during his rookie season but quickly rebounded to post a 13-3 record the next year. However, there are still things that Luck will need to work on, and it took two touchdown passes with under three minutes left for him to help the Colts to a 35-33 victory over the Lions on Sunday. Overall, Luck was only 24-of-54 (44 percent) for 391 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.

His final touchdown came with no time left on the clock, making him the fourth rookie in NFL history to do that. He joined Tim Couch, Matthew Stafford (his opponent on Sunday), and fellow rookie Russell Wilson. In fact, Wilson had his second game-winning touchdown of the year on Sunday when Seattle pulled out an overtime win against the Bears in Chicago.

How many more wins can Luck add to his record total? The Colts play the Titans in Week 14, see the Texans twice in the final three games, and have a road game in Kansas City. While Houston will be a tough opponent, the matchups actually give Luck a chance to not only add to his record win total but actually win the division. Much like what Manning did for the Broncos on Sunday.

See, we just can’t stop comparing them.
