NFL odds Week 17: Cowboys vs. Redskins

The Washington Redskins are favored to beat the Dallas Cowboys and win the NFC East in Week 17.

Patrick McDermott

The Washington Redskins are now the favorites to win the NFC East Division and a spot in the NFL playoffs, according to OddsShark. Washington, led by rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, who was recently named to the 2013 NFL Pro Bowl, is playing the Dallas Cowboys in a win-and-in situation in Week 17.

According to OddsShark, the opening lines had the Redskins favored by a half point more than field goal, and that line has essentially persisted throughout the week, with most books having Washington as three-point favorites.

When the line is that close and the favored team is the home team, it’s a pretty clear indication that oddsmakers believe the matchup to be relatively even. Washington may be getting the nod because they’re the home team.

Dallas was in this same situation a season ago -- if they had won in Week 17, they would have won the division and made the playoffs over the New York Giants, but they were unable to win on the road.
