NFL coaching rumors: Dirk Koetter to interview with Browns, Chiefs, Eagles

Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter is reportedly set to interview with three NFL teams this week for their head coaching vacancies. Koetter has only been an offensive coordinator in the NFL, but he was a college head coach for nine years previously.

With a number of NFL head coaching jobs already opening up, names of replacements are beginning to swirl. According to FoxSports.com's Alex Marvez, Atlanta Falcons' offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter will interview for three teams this week.

According to the report, Koetter has interviews set up with the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

Coaching profile: Dirk Koetter

Koetter has never been a head coach in the NFL, but has head coaching experience at the college level. After building a 26-10 record in three seasons at Boise St., he spent six seasons at Arizona St. from 2001 to 2006, accumulating a 40-34 record with the Sun Devils.

After being fired by Arizona St., Koetter joined the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2007 and served as offensive coordinator for four years before being hired by Atlanta in January.

Under Koetter, the Falcons ranked sixth in the NFL in passing yards, averaging 281.8 per game and were eighth in total offense at 369.1 yards-per-game. The Falcons ranked seventh in the league in points-per-game, averaging a shade more than 26 points.

Atlanta finished the season tied for the best record in the NFL at 13-3 and earned home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.
