Broncos vs. Raiders 2012: Oakland fans suffer through another loss

The Oakland losses continue to pile up, and they are taking their toll on a loyal fan base.

Ezra Shaw

The Oakland Raiders lost their sixth straight game on Thursday night at the hands of the Denver Broncos, and the losses are taking their toll on the fan base.

Levi Damien of Silver and Black Pride wrote about the team’s loss. Damien sounded frustrated but also worn out from an entire season of losing, writing:

The usual from the Raiders is a defense which can’t stop teams on most down but especially third down. And it is an offense which shows flashes but doesn’t bother to show up until it’s too late. And of course, Palmer always throws in a tasty side of piping hot turnover.

Although the Raiders trailed by only six at halftime, Damien never seemed to think Oakland had a real chance in the game. The team had let him down too often this season for Damien to act surprised when it happened again. He described the inevitable letdown well, writing:

The Raiders began the second half back to their old tricks. A three and out followed by the Broncos driving for a field goal. Then a turnover by Palmer - this time on a strip sack by Von Miller - and the Broncos got the ball and the Raiders 2-yard line and scored another touchdown.

Raiders fans have also grown frustrated with under-performing players finding success against their defense. Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno had a strong running game against Oakland despite a relatively quiet career. Damien acknowledged this phenomenon as well, stating:

The Raiders were also the typical shelter in the storm for weary passers by. This time for Knowshon Moreno who ran for 108 yards - just the third 100 yard game of his career and his first since December of 2010.

Overall, Raiders fans are weary from another difficult season.
