Releasing Tim Tebow Unlikely To Happen, According To Report

The speculation is running rampant regarding Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. The Broncos emerged as the winning team in the competition for the services of free agent Peyton Manning. Denver introduced Manning at a press conference on Tuesday, during which it was made clear that the new arrival will be the Broncos' starting quarterback in 2012 and moving forward. This acquisition has left Tebow, for all intents and purposes, without a job.

Broncos vice president John Elway has stated that there is the possibility of Tebow being traded before the season begins, although some have speculated that the Broncos may just release the QB altogether.

According to Andrew Mason of CBS Sports, Broncos GM Brian Xanders has gone on record as saying that releasing Tebow is not an option.

“He’s a first-round pick; he’s just won the division; we were 1-4 at the time (he became the starter); he’s got a guaranteed contract. I can’t see that,” Xanders said.

If Tebow does wind up on another team prior to the 2012 season kicking off, it will be via trade.
