Tim Tebow Thinks He Can Be Jets’ Starting QB, According To Report

Mark Sanchez recently signed a new contract extension that will pay him $60 million over the next five years, including $27 million in guaranteed money. A contract like that indicates that he's clearly the starting quarterback for the New York Jets for the foreseeable future, and that there will be no competition for his job. This does not appear to phase Tim Tebow, who reportedly has his sights set on the QB1 job.

The New York Daily News is reporting that Tim Tebow picked the Jets over the Jacksonville Jaguars because he sees a "clear path" to a starting job. How Tebow came to the conclusion that Sanchez's job security is worse than Blaine Gabbert's, no one will ever know.

The Jets regularly utilize wildcat packages, and the team was not as successful at running them last season without Brad Smith, who left the Jets for the Buffalo Bills prior to the 2011 season. Tebow will likely enter training camp as the backup quarterback and a regular contributor in wildcat sets. It's tough to envision the Jets benching their QB for Tebow when they just gave him $27 million guaranteed, but the guy can dream, can't he?
