Lance Briggs has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Chicago Bears, the team announced Wednesday. The seven-time Pro Bowler will stay with the team through 2014. He has started 137 of 140 career games with the Bears, and played 100 percent of the team's snaps last season.

Lance Briggs signed a one-year contract extension with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday, keeping him with the team through the 2014 season.

Briggs had two years and $11.83 million remaining on his contract before signing the extension. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed though it is safe to assume the linebacker will be handsomely rewarded for his production and consistency over his nine seasons with Chicago. For his career, he has 965 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 13 interceptions and 14 forced fumbles.
The Bears defensive front should once again be among the more formidable in the NFL this season. Last year, they gave up the fifth-fewest yards rushing of any team in the league.
