The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly had internal discussions about trading running back Felix Jones, according to ESPNDallas.com. Jones' role with the team is in flux considering his career struggles with injuries as well as the emergence of DeMarco Murray and Phillip Tanner as arguably better options in the running game. The Cowboys may look to get what they can out of the fourth-year running back with an unclear role on the team.

The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly discussed the possibility of trading Felix Jones with DeMarco Murray set to assume lead back responsibilities during the 2012 season.

Of course, there is some question as to whether Jones could even fetch anything on the open market. The SB Nation blog Blogging The Boys pointed out a couple months ago that teams simply looking for a change-of-pace back may be more apt to look at the 2012 NFL Draft for help. Besides, Jones could still contribute to the Cowboys.
Felix Jones is a change of pace back. When Dallas finally has someone to be a lead back, DeMarco Murray, you look to trade him? For a fourth or fifth round pick? Never mind, as the article states, why would a team trade a fourth or fifth rounder for a change of pace guy with four years on his legs when they could just draft a 21 year old for the same job.
The Cowboys are considering taking a running back in the NFL Draft. They were schedule to host Boise State back Doug Martin for a pre-draft visit but had to cancel due to stormy weather.
