Free agent running backs Ryan Grant and Tim Hightower visited with the New England Patriots on Friday, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Pats are in the market for a running back after losing BenJarvus Green-Ellis to the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency. Grant and Hightower have both been productive with the Green Bay Packers and the Arizona Cardinals, respectively, though both come with their fair share of injury baggage as well.

Ryan Grant and Tim Hightower visited the New England Patriots on Friday. The Pats are looking for help in their offensive backfield after losing BenJarvus Green-Ellis in free agency.
Grant split carries with James Starks in the Packers' backfield last season, after missing essentially the entire 2010 season with a broken leg after just eight carries in Week 1. He had back-to-back 1,200-yard seasons in 2008 and 2009, however, and could be a solid hard-nosed runner to complement the likes of Danny Woodhead.
Hightower was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL in Week 7 of last season, opening the door for a resurgent Beanie Wells in Arizona. He played through three straight 16-game seasons prior to 2011, however, and averaged 4.8 yards per carry in 2010 on his way to 736 yards and five touchdowns on 153 carries.
