The Houston Texans have released wide receiver Jacoby Jones, according to a report by John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. Jones has spent all of his five seasons in the NFL with Houston, catching 127 passes for 1,741 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Jones was a serviceable third option for the Texans at times, but fans and members of the front office were frustrated last season that he didn't make more of an impact on the field with Andre Johnson struggling through injury. Houston attempted to trade the wideout after selecting two receivers in the 2012 NFL draft, and after finding no takers decided they would rather part ways with Jones.

The Texans selected former Ohio State receiver DeVier Posey with the fifth pick of the third round and ex-Michigan State wideout Keshawn Martin with the 26th pick of the fourth round to give their receiving corps some much-needed depth. Posey sat out all but two games last season under suspension with the Buckeyes, but was a dominant deep threat at times during his college career. Martin is an exceptional athlete who can also return kicks.
