Lions RB Mikel Leshoure Receives $575 Fine For Pot Possession Charge, Could Face NFL Suspension

Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure pleaded guilty to a reduced marijuana possession change stemming from a March 12 arrest in Bridgman, MI. According MLive.com, LeShoure received a $575 fine with no jail time.

It could have been much worse for Leshoure. He originally faced felony charges because it was his second arrest for possession within four weeks. He was arrested previously on Feb. 18. Leshoure was found cramming the marijuana into his mouth at the time of his second arrest.

A 2nd-round pick by the Lions in 2011, Leshoure is not out of the woods yet. He still faces discipline from the league, which could be stiffer since he doubled up on the arrests this year. The NFL can suspend him for as many as four games this season.

However lengthy his suspension is, it represents another setback in his early career. Leshoure missed all of last season with a torn Achilles. Now, his second-year is likely to get a delayed start because of a suspension.
