Many NFL teams held their rookie mini-camps over the weekend, and often there will be plenty of rookies who have their “Welcome to the NFL” moment. Often times that comes from getting picked off in drills multiple times, getting beaten by a receiver over and over, or by an offensive lineman giving a rookie the business. Other times it happens when a coach forces a player to work harder than they used to.
Fletcher Cox Receives His Welcome To The NFL Moment
Philadelphia Eagles rookie defensive lineman Fletcher Cox had his moment over the weekend, according to The Inquirer.
Castillo, the second-year defensive coordinator, undressed the rookie in the afternoon session when it appeared as if he thought the 21-year old was loafing. In the morning, defensive line coach Jim Washburn - never one to mince words - got on Cox for not hustling upfield after he was blocked.
The rookie seemed to take it in stride however, knowing the coaches are just trying to make him better as a player.
“I know that’s one thing Coach [Jim] Washburn is going to do,” Cox said. “He’s going to get after me, and that keeps me motivated.”
