The New England Patriots announced the signing of three players on Tuesday, including 7th-round pick Alfonzo Dennard. They also announced one release -- WR Anthony Gonzalez, who lasted less than three months with the Patriots.
Anthony Gonzalez Doesn’t Last Long With Patriots
The Patriots signed Anthony Gonzalez in March, yet less than three months later opted to release him.

Gonzalez, the Indianapolis Colts' 1st-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, signed with New England shortly after free agency began in March. He now becomes a free agent.
Gonzalez’s career got off to a good start with more than 1,200 yards and seven touchdowns in his first two seasons in the Colts’ offense. From there, injuries derailed his career to the point where he played sparingly in the next three years. He could be sitting out for a while before signing with another team.
Gonzalez has failed to catch on with two of the best passing offenses in the NFL in the Colts and Patriots. His health will continue to be a major question mark as he searches for a new team.
