Quarterback Colt McCoy's time with the Cleveland Browns is likely coming to an end soon. The Browns drafted Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden in the 1st round of the 2012 NFL Draft last week, but McCoy's future with the team may have been decided last December when his father, Brad McCoy, publicly criticized the team for failing to take his son out of Dec. 8 after suffering a concussion against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Colt McCoy’s ‘Fate Was Sealed’ In Cleveland With His Father’s Remarks
According to Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland, sources told him that McCoy’s “fate as a former starter was sealed” when Brad McCoy made his comments.
The elder McCoy told the press that his son was visibly showing signs of a concussion and should have been removed from the game. The Browns maintained their handling of McCoy’s injury was appropriate and that the quarterback’s concussion was not apparent until after the game.
Cleveland was rumored to be in trade talks to send McCoy to the Green Bay Packers recently, but nothing has happened since reports first surfaced.
