Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones Presents Cautionary Tale To NFL Rookies

Adam “Pacman” Jones did not want his speech to NFL rookies at the league’s Rookie Symposium broadcast. Jones did manage to provide NFL.com with a few tidbits and the general thrust of what he was going to talk about with the young players. As you can imagine, Pacman was going to offer rookies a cautionary tale or two.

“I wouldn’t want any of those guys to go through what I’ve gone through,” Jones told NFL.com “It’s not fun being on the news everyday for this mistake or that mistake because your boy did this or you did that. At the end of the day, my oldest girl is six right now, and she can read. She can type my name into a computer. You don’t want her to see all of those negative things.”

Jones is still dealing with the fallout from a 2007 shooting at a Las Vegas strip club. He was recently ordered to pay more than $11 million in damages for people injured in the incident which happened while he was a member of the Tennessee Titans.

Now, the Cincinnati Bengals employ Jones, and it was his idea to make the drive up to the Cleveland suburbs to present at the Rookie Symposium. He admitted to not paying much attention when he attended the same event in 2005.

The ultimate lesson, said Jones, is this:

“Every decision you make is critical. It might not get you now. But it will get you later.”
