The Cincinnati Bengals reportedly will be without rookie cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick for most, if not all, of training camp after an injury to his leg just days before training camp opens.

The Cincinnati Bengals don't open training camp until Friday, July 27, but they have reportedly suffered a casualty a few days early: Rookie cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick has injured his "knee area" while getting ready for camp, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

While the injury has not yet been disclosed, La Canfora reports that Kirkpatrick could miss most or possibly all of training camp as a result. CBS Sports’ Will Brinson mentions that the injury could be a small broken bone, but head coach Marvin Lewis will not discuss the potential injury until after training camp begins.

Kirkpatrick was the 17th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Bengals, the first of two selections by the team in the first round (offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler went 10 picks later at No. 27). He was the third cornerback taken in the draft, behind Morris Claiborne (No. 6, Dallas Cowboys) and Stephon Gilmore (No. 10, Buffalo Bills).
