The Cincinnati Bengals got some bad injury news before training camp for the 2012 NFL season even opens, as first-round pick Dre Kirkpatrick was sidelined with an injury while training. Luckily for the Bengals, the injury does not appear to be a major one, according to a report by ESPN.
Dre Kirkpatrick Injury: Out 2-4 Weeks, According To Report
Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick Dre Kirkpatrick is expected to miss two to four weeks with a fractured bone in his leg, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Kirkpatrick is not expected to undergo surgery.
Although missing two to four weeks of training camp and likely at least one preseason game is a blow for a rookie cornerback trying to crack the starting lineup, it's great news that he doesn't need to go under the knife. The Bengals have a handful of veterans under contract in Terrance Newman, Jason Allen and Adam Jones, but they hope for Kirkpatrick to earn a starting job.
