Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, as he is still recovering from right knee surgery he underwent in January. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt told the media that he doesn't expect the back to be on the list for too long and that he expected this move.
Beanie Wells Is Still Recovering From Knee Injury
Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells is still recovering from offseason knee surgery. He is not expected to be on the PUP list for long.
Wells did not participate in any of the team’s offseason workouts in May and the minicamp in June. Wells played most of the 2011 season with the injury to his right knee, but he managed to end the season with 1,047 yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games.
Wells’ placement on the preseason PUP list is different from the regular-season one. This prohibits him from participating in practice for the time being, but he is able to be moved to the active roster at any time during camp. However, once taken off of the list he is unable to be placed back on after practicing. The regular-season PUP list keeps a player out for six weeks and then gives a three-week window to determine if the player is healthy or needs to be placed on season-ending injured reserved.
