Jonathan Goff’s Injury Is Torn ACL, Done For The Year

For the second consecutive season, inside linebacker Jonathan Goff has suffered a torn ACL that will end his season before it gets started. Last season, while with the New York Giants, Goff tore his ACL in practice prior to Week 1 of the regular season. He was picked up by the Washington Redskins in the offseason and was going to have a very good chance of making the team if he remained healthy, but his season is already over with another torn ACL.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan talked about the injury and Goff on Monday.

“Really a shame, he’s come in here and worked so hard to make this football team, everything you could possibly do in the offseason. I was really pulling for him. He’s a class individual.”

Goff started in all 16 games for the Giants in 2010 and made 52 tackles with 26 assists. He was behind London Fletcher and Perry Riley entering Redskins camp, but was expected to make the team. He now faces a long road back to playing in the NFL after suffering another season-ending injury.
