D.J. Williams Convicted Of Driving While Ability-Impaired, Stemming From 2010 Arrest

Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams was found guilty on Wednesday of driving while ability-impaired and driving without his headlights on, charges that stem from a November 2010 arrest. The conviction could jeopardize the eight-year NFL veteran's 2012 season.

Williams left court on Wednesday without commenting to the media. He could receive his sentence on the two charges in six weeks, but it remains to be seen how much time (if any) he would be required to serve.

Jurors lessened the charges for Williams, but the guilty verdict -- which comes on top of a pending six-game suspension for failing a performance-enhancing drug test before the start of the 2011 season -- casts an ominous cloud over Williams’ future as a Bronco. The franchise stripped Williams of his team captaincy following his arrest, which was the second time in seven seasons he had been detained on suspicion of drunk driving.

Williams had 70 tackles and five sacks in 13 games last season.
